I don't know if you "have to" but as the conversion takes place in DOS you
have to shut down ECSW for the conversion. As long as ECSW can't be running
it is probably just as safe to "de-authorize" rather than take the chance
that ECS sees the move as tampering.

I have been running ECSW with Win 98 (and FAT 32) for about 5 weeks or so.
Have had no problems at all.
