RE: [ECS] Local Pickup on Cable

Hi Gary!

You're using RG6 and having bleed? Never seen that before. What's the
feeder from the pole. Assuming that is something substantial, like RG11/U,
then RG6/U should be fine for around the house. What brand Cable are you
using. I have found anything other than Belden to be too much trouble to
consider.

You also might check all your connections, and see that they are fresh and
tight. If not, cut, re-strip, and crimp on new connectors. Oh, and avoid
screw-on connectors. I've seen too many of them that provide poor
shielding.

Don't forget to make sure you have no unterminated connectors (don't forget
the wall plates). If they aren't screwed into something, or something isn't
screwed into it, put a terminator on it!

Also, swap out your splitters, amps, anything else plugged into the coax
anywhere along the way. It's possible the cable itself is not the culprit,
but something that is connected to it.

Finally, avoid RG59/U ANYWHERE at all cost! :)

Good Luck!

Cheers!

Subject: [ECS] Local Pickup on Cable

My cable was recently upgraded to broadband. It is much better than the
former signal, however, we are seeing some problems with the local channels
bleeding into the cable on the channel they broadcast.

I think installing a new cable that is shielded much more that the RG6
might keep the current cable from acting as an antenna.

Any cable gurus out there with a recommendation.
