Ok to let system sleep?

i'm getting ready to make the UG to ECS Win and have set up a test
system with ECS Win lite. i've got an event that logs the current
time whenever "minute is now 0". i'm finding in the messages log that
the event seems to be running anywhere from a minuted to 30 minutes
behind. for example, i'll have a log entry at 7:15 am that says "the
time is now 7:00 am".

i've set the machine to power down the drives after 60 minutes
without activity. when i'm actively using this machine, the time logs
right on the hour - so i'm guessing that ECS doesn't like the drives
to sleep and somehow 'caches' the event to happen later?? also of
note - two of the times that i've 'revived' the machine from
sleeping, i've gotten the 'ecs-time set to real time >1 hour behind'
message...

is everyone else setting their power management to leave their drives
spinning regardless of whether the computer is actively being used or
not?
