Subject: From: Date: | ECS Died Frank Herron Charlotte NC Sun, 9 Aug 98 19:11:20 EDT |
I am running ECST ver 3.4 with the Aug 2nd fix for caller.id problem. Today a
call came in and ECS logged the name and number, picked the Speak Relay and
then hung. PC then re-booted itself a few times. It would stop after playing
Star Wars theme with the cursor on the line: Enter macro (or press <Enter> for
password prompt). This is the opening screen. The Enter Key would do nothing
or any other keys. The only keys that had any effect were CTL-ALT-DEL. Tried
again. Ran Scandisk, booted up, did dirs everything working fine. In the next
several hours I removed all my adapter cards. Then moved the Harddrive to
another PC still no go. Copied Hard Drive to another Hard Drive, and ECS LITE
came up and worked. Simple now I figure, so I move the authorization (EVMOVE)
to new Harddrive and new system. Same trouble. Copied in a new copy of
config, no go. Copied in my old ECST.EXE from May 2 and machine came up OK!
Backup May 02 again. Copy original ECST.EX_ from my Windows 95 mach to
diskette, bring it over to ECS Machine. Execute LZWD, check file sizes etc.
ECS comes up and hangs dead, at the enter macro or enter place. Put May 2
ECST.EXE back in and all is well.
The size of my ECST.EXE is 762287 dated 08/02/98. I am willing to send the
HardDrive to Decatur if necessary or go through this on the phone. Should I
download ECST.EX_ again??
Anyway I am up and running again. Did not realize how much this ECS does!
and how much I missed it when it was off the air.
