If you you manually turn the light on or send a simple X10 on, the light
comes back on at it's previous level.
You can use commands that are similar in function to what the PCS switches
support (but using a variation that Leviton came up with) to turn the lamp
on directly at a level or change the level directly without DIM/BRIGHT
commands.
Works well (though the switch is a bit mushy for my tastes).
If you can afford the step up, the new SwitchLinc switches are fabu. Not
only do they also support the PCS style preset dim, but they actually
report their status when manually activated - imagine, your program
actually knows what really going on even when it didn't initiate it!

Anything that can send extended data/command codes can support it. I know
the HomeVision also supports it.
