Since I had been one of the proponents of being able to leave "Local
Phone Messages" on your system, just like you used to be able to do with
ECS 3.X and Bigmouth, I thought it only proper that I thank Mark for
making it all possible in ECS 4.1!
THANKS MARK!
If you're interested, it's really simple and easy. Here's what you need
to do:
Local Phone Messages: Here's what I did. First, created a true/false
item named "Flag_Rcd Local Msgs", and a text item "Rcd Local Msg" which
says "Pick up line one now and begin after the tone. Hang up when
done". Then made my event as follows:
Event:Rcd Local Messages
Called ?: No
If Flag_Rcd Local Msg Is Now True
; now turn on intercom via relay for ECS to speak
Then Intercom Set High
Then Msg_Rcd Local Msg Set Speak/W
; speaking done so turn the relay off
Then Intercom Set Low
Then Phone-Interface-C Set Record/W Local Msg
Then Flag_Rcd Local Msg Set False
That's all there is to it! Ecs will then name the message and put it in
your que of messages, just like telephone messages (incoming), or
rather, I guess, just like the old ECS 3.3 & Bigmouth card.
Anyway, it works like a champ and now on our touchscreen, we have a
button which says "Leave Message"; it will get a lot of use as we're
always leaving notes since we converted to ECS 4.X.
