David,
I don't have a HV. I use a Prairie Digital 40, with a homebuilt
opto-isolator board for digital inputs, and a homebuilt relay board for
contact closure outputs. However the "Intercom" item used in my Record
Local Message event is just a relay that closes a contact on the
intercom allowing the soundblaster output to be piped through the house
(well, whichever intercom stations are selected on the master panel).
I couple the audio output of the soundblaster card, through an audio
isolation transformer (a 1:1 transformer for $2.95 or so at Radio Shack)
to a previously unused station on the intercom "master". I then wire a
relay to close the contacts on the same station. I figured it all out
by taking one room's intercom station off the wall and tracing the
wiring through it. It was then a simple matter to make a "pseudo
intercom" station with ECS controlling the pushbutton. I'm hoping to do
something similar for the speaker part of the "pseudo intercom" to
connect to the microphone input of the soundblaster card for voice
control. That way, I "should" be able to walk up to any intercom
station in the house (or outside), press the button and issue my
command. At least, that's my theory.... Haven't played with ANY of the
VR stuff yet.
