Mark, you could try a "ping" command before the netstat
Ping is a command line utility that easily lends itself to batch files.
Ping the address of the ISPs router or another "known" entity.

Very impressive Scott - Pulling up a web page did indeed
cause "NETSTAT -N" to work :-).
And WINIPCFG always works, regardless.
The problem with WINIPCFG is that it is interactive,
and it's output cannot be routed to a text file.
I need to get the IP address into a text file,
so that it may be emailed to the remote PC.
I guess I could have ECS connect AND pull up a web page
(so as to get NETSTAT to work), but this is awful "tackey".
Does anyone have a better solution ?
I could write a VC++ program to get this info, but
am having difficulty determining what functions to call:
GetServerVariable looks like it would do the trick,
but it requires a mysterious "HCONN" input argument,
which I can't find how to set or obtain.

netstat only shows 'routes' that you've already established. did you try
running "winipcfg"
