i think that the VNC client is trying to resolve ECS to the correct IP address during
that time. have you set up a "hosts" file in your windows directory showing 
it the correct IP address for the machine called "ECS"?

i had a problem yesterday where i had inadvertantly set up 2 machines with the same
IP on my network. windows automatically disables TCP/IP until the 
problem is fixed. in the meantime, i had tried to connect to that machine via VNC. after
choosing the correct machine for the VNC viewer to connect to, 
nothing happened. no error msg - nothing. after i corrected the TCP/IP problem about
10 minutes later, the VNC viewer suddenly popped up on the client 
machine and asked for the session password... it looks like VNC will sit an wait until
the IP resolution takes place...
