VNC won't transfer the initial graphics until you've entered your password...

you can set up "names" for the machines on your network by creating a file in your \windows
directory called "hosts" (note that there is no extension on the 
name of this file) for each name you want to resolve, you'll want a line like this:

192.168.0.1	ECS
192.168.0.2	Cleint1

there's a file called hosts.sam in your windows directory with a sample... using 192.168.0.XXX
IP addresses is a good idea to avoid matching an IP address 
out on the internet. these numbers are 'non-routeable' and won't cause conflicts...

once you've set this file up, you should be able to type "ping ECS" from a command line
and see a response...
