right - the delay between telling VNC to connect to a server and when the password window
pops up is most likely caused by resolving your machine name 
(alpha) to an IP address (numerical). that's why there's little delay when you enter
the number. saving your hosts.sam file to just "hosts" will speed things up for 
you...
