Hello all,
Though it could be tested a bit more, I have released 4.1.005
(mainly for new potential customers downloading for eval).
If you want to play it safe, wait a week before upgrading.
Latest upgrade instructions are attached.

	4.1.005 (08/12/99)

    60)	ECS now supports the following "ADICON" series devices from
	Applied Digital (http://www.appdig.com/adicon.html):
		CPU-XA
		SECU-16
		SECU-16I
		SECU-16IR
		RLY8-XA

The related new Item Types are:
		PLC-Interface-2K
		Relay-K
		Digital-Input-K
		Analog-Input-K
		IR-Signal-K

    61)	When playing phone messages thru the WAVE card, ECS now sets the
volume to the maximum before playback, and restores it to it's
original setting afterwards. This was done since the modem
(PHONE-INTERFACE-C) records remote messages at a very low level
(reason unknown). The default "gain" set to the maximum of 255.
To override, this setting, insert the following line in
	\AUTOEXEC.BAT and reboot:

		SET ECS_RPC_WAV_GAIN={d}

where {d} would be "0" for no gain.

    62)	A bug has been corrected which could prevent the phone # from
being included in phone-message log entries.

    63)	ECS now displays help (ECS.HTM) via the user's web browser
	(including context-sensitive help).

    64)	ECS.HTM has been overhauled, for optimal viewing with web
	browsers.

    65)	A new State (REWIND) is now supported for the FILE Type:
When set to this State, the file position is reset to 0,
leaving the file intact (unlike RESET, which deletes the
	file's contents).

    66)	A recently-introduced bug has been corrected which prevented
the "SET STATE" State (for TEXT Items) from working.

    67)	A bug has been corrected which caused "sound problems" if the
HALT button was clicked (to halt Event processing).

    68)	The "HALT" button has been renamed to "STOP".

    69)	So as to free-up the CPU for other programs, ECS now "sleeps"
for 0.1 seconds every pass IF it has not fallen behind and no
	sound-files are queued.

    70)	A bug has been corrected which could keep ECS from hanging the
phone up after placing a call.

    71)	Added "ABOUT" box to Group screen (to display revision level,
etc).

Downloading/Installing Updates
Note: This procedure requires WinZip or PKUNZIP (from PKWARE).

To download/install updates from the Internet:

  1. IF you are running ECS-STANDARD (versus Lite), contact us (via omnip@usit.net) to obtain the authorization code for the current release (without the proper code, ECS will run in Lite mode).
  2. Backup your existing ECS folder (just in case).
WARNING: If you have customized ICONS.DEF or any icon image files, they MUST be backed up, as they will be overwritten during the install.
  3. If you are upgrading by 1 revision level:
    1. Download ECSU.ZIP into \PROGRAM FILES\ECS.
    2. Unzip ECSU.ZIP (overwrite existing files).
  4. If you are upgrading by multiple revision levels:
    1. Download ECSL.ZIP into an empty folder.
NOTE: To create a new folder:
        1. From your Win DeskTop, click MY COMPUTER.
        2. Click the icon for your C: drive.
        3. If your new folder is to exist within another folder, then select that folder.
        4. Click FILE, NEW, and FOLDER.
        5. Enter the name of new folder.
        6. Close the Window.
    2. Unzip ECSL.ZIP in that folder.
    3. From your Win DeskTop, click STARTUP, RUN, BROWSE, and select SETUP.EXE in the folder.
  5. If you had customized ICONS.DEF or any icon image files, restore your backed-up copies.
  6. CAREFULLY REVIEW THE UPDATES DESCRIBED IN UPD.TXT, AND MAKE ANY REQUIRED CHANGES.
