Subject: From: Date: | Questions about Environmental Variables in ECS Martin Terry Sat, 14 Aug 1999 14:08:51 -0700 |
Mark,
ECS 4.1.005 looks great. Thanks for the timely updates.
Just FYI, your new "About" dialog says ECS version 5.1.0005. :)
I was playing around this morning with setting and tracking Environmental
variables in ECS. Seems like in the Windows version this really isn't
functional, since any batch file you execute from ECS doesn't keep the value
once it has exited. Am I misunderstanding how this works? I could never
change the value of my test item with a batch file.
Also, I've modified my Time event, and it seems the current logic in the
example event goes against the OS in terms of managing Daylight Savings. In
other words, ECS wants to add or substract an hour for DST, but Windows can
manage this itself. Why would I want ECS to manage this, and then have every
other application have the wrong time? Why not let the Windows OS deal with
Daylight Savings?
Another thing, I haven't tried it with the 4.1.005, but the LYNX.CFG
distributed with 4.1.004 wouldn't load in ECS, because it still had
references to a bunch of item types that you eliminated a few versions back,
like the display colors.
