Hello all,
X.ZIP is ABOUT to be uploaded to ftp.gallops.com/ecsBETA,
and incorporates the changes below.
I would especially appreciate feedback regarding the new
W95 SETUP procedure. Thanks
8/12/98:
64) A bug has been corrected whereby ECSW could sometimes
misinterpret clock-tics at the time they "wrap-around" to 0.
This could occasionally result in faulty device timeouts.
* 65) So as to be compatible with W95 convention for plain-text files,
all *.DOC files have been renamed to *.TXT.
PLEASE ENTER THE FOLLOWING COMMAND, SO AS TO RENAME YOUR
FILES:
CD \ECS
RENAME *.DOC *.TXT
In addition, all line-draw characters in ECS.TXT (formerly ECS.DOC)
have been replaced with dashes, etc, so as to have an appropriate
appearance in W95 editors (which do not support the IBM line-draw
character set). The original line-draw characters are preserved
in ECSP.TXT (laser-printer version of ECS.TXT).
8/13/98:
66) A new function key (F7) is now supported in the Item Editor for
Keyboard-Event Items: Pressing F7 will cause ECSW to place the
mouse cursor at the specified position in the Window, so as to
assist in determining the desired position.
* 67) EXECUTABLES HAVE BEEN RENAMED AS FOLLOWS:
Old New
-------- ------------------
ECS.EXE ECSD.EXE (DOS vsn)
ECSW.EXE ECS.EXE (W95 vsn)
SF.EXE SFD.EXE (DOS vsn)
SFW.EXE SF.EXE (W95 vsn)
You should have new Desktop links per running SETUP.
PLEASE DELETE \WINDOWS\DESKTOP\SFW.LNK & \WINDOWS\DESKTOP\ECSW.LNK.
8/14/98:
* 68) All icon files are now stored in \ECS\ICONS, so as to cleanup
the
\ECS directory.
PLEASE ENTER THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
CD \ECS
MD ICONS
MOVE *.BMP .\ICONS
MOVE *.ICN .\ICONS
69) SETUP.EXE now PROPERLY installs ECS in W95 using
"InstallShield".
Like the old INSTALL.EXE, it does NOT overwrite files which may
have been customized (such as ECS.CFG & ECS.DT).
70) The "Password" prompt is now skipped if no passwords are
defined in ECS.CFG.
