something interesting i've been experimenting with:
i downloaded a demo of a program called "MP3Enc" (you can find it at download.com) that
converts WAV files to MP3 files. since an MP3 file is compressed 
better than a WAV but handles voice nicely, i found that converting the wav to a low
bitrate MP3 reduced the size of the file by 85% + without losing the quality 
of the sound, making the time it takes to email it somewhere much shorter.

unfortunately, the full software costs around $200. not quite worth it. has anyone already
messed around with this and found a better solution?
