Sounds great! I just got all of my HV IO ports run to  a wiring closet & terminated.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to make use of them. I think I understand the DSC alarm
status, simply connect one contact from the low output PGM1 to input #1 PORT B and the
other to the PORT B ground.

However, I am confused about the ability to arm / disarm the system, I thought I could
simply hook up a connection from either PORT A or PORT C to an unsed zone and define
it as a keyswitch zone. But you both speak of a relay being necessary to accomplish
this. I assume therefore that only PORT A is usable, but I'm still a little fuzzy about
the hook up. I thought that PORT A was a relay. But since you both discuss an external
relay ie. ELK / Prarie Digital I guess I'm wrong. Could one or both of you please enlighten,
me on this. Is there an external power source needed? If so what kind and can any relay
be used or would you recommend ELK / PD.

Sorry for all the questions, but since I'm obviously confused I don't want to hook up
anything wrong and fry the HV or the DSC.

a low hiss on the intercom stations - DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS?
   
  SR: I have trained MS SDK using the intercoms.  The first time: with great results,
the second: not so great.  Since then SDK has not functioned properly (I have never
had much luck with this).  I am determined to eventually get it working though.  Another
problem is that you can only tap the microphone input for one of the intercom stations
( I Think ).  So I am thinking that a microphone mixer will be needed at some point
to combine inputs.

  General Question:  How do I wire up the zone -following function?  Can I run the zone
right into my HV-PC?

    I want to set up my HV-PC / ECS system to interface with my security system (DSC
Power 832). I want to run the HV ports to a wiring closet so that I can home run wiring
from there. My question is can I simply run 4 pair cat 5 cable from the HV itself to
a terminal strip in my wiring closet and from there to the security system ect (I realize
it won't be ' CAT 5' any more but I already got the wire)? Also, does each port require
a separate ground / common or can all be tied together.

    Has any one out there tried this combination? I want to use ECS to determine if
the system is armed or not and arm it at the appropriate times. I also want to have
certain things happen depending on if the system is armed / disarmed in the away / stay
mode based upon the time of day, turn on/off lights ect. I also would like it to do
certain things depending on who arms / disarms (wife / kids each have their own code).
Last but not least I want ECS to phone me in the event of alarm with seperate messages
for intruder / fire / CO ect.
    I know its alot but what the hey, Christmas vacation is coming up so I'll have a
little time to play.

    PS. I have the DSC 832 intercom system installed and would like to pipe background
xmas music / CID / ECS messages through the system as well as use the built in mics
for speech recognition. Any thoughts?
