[ECS] Phone-Interface-(X) -Reply

A good place to start is the web site www.exceletel. They offer a nice
set of active-x controls. You might also want to check out
www.mediaphonics.com. They sell an excellent TAPI compliant voice
board that Exceletel highly recommends. They are working on a 2 port
version of this card.

I believe a robust voice solution demands a true voice card not a voice
modem serving both voice and traditional modem services. So maybe
we are talking about two different solutions.

I'm relatively new to ECS and have only been using the telephony
features for about a month, but so far it seems to work as well as a
voice modem is capable of. I am using an old 33.6 phone-blaster card.
(I am not using this modem to dial and retreive internet data)

I am also a ACE user and have been pursuing a true voice solution from
it's developer. Ultimately I believe that's the type of environment
(distributed) a good voice solution needs to work well in. Currently I have
ACE buttons on my touchscreens that monitor ECS for number of new
messages and callerid info. I also have a button that permits me to play
back any new messages from any ACE client. ECS also sends a text
screen pop with callerid info to all of my ACE clients when a call comes
in. I am quite happy with it's current level of functionality.

Yes I am interested but I am also concerned about the general ECS user
being somewhat put off by the high costs. Any other comments on the
cost. Assuming a minimum of $300 for a good voice card.

Several of the members of this group want to approach Mark with a
proposition stating that we would like a more robust phone interface,
and
that we would consider purchasing the board for him, plus perhaps
fiscal
aid. I don't know what is out there as far as phone boards, but there
seems
like Dialogic and many others have interfaces that might do what we
want. Of
course, that begs the question...What DO we want? I'm willing to start
the
ball rolling, but I don't want to approach Mark until we have a solid idea
of what everyone wants.
Personally, I could live with a phone-interface that does what the
Phone-Interface-C is suppose to do, but more is better. What do you
think?
