RE: [ECS] Micro Redac Questions
Garnet Bailey
Wed, 19 Aug 1998 16:52:26 -0600

This is the dip switch useage of the Redac:

           RS232 Port:
                       2400, 4800, 9600 or 19.2K Baud
Switches 1 to 3 allways ON
                       Switch #4 #5
                                OFF OFF = 2400 baud
                                OFF ON = 4800 baud
                                ON OFF = 9600 baud
                                ON ON = 19.2k baud
                       8 data bits, no parity
                       Full Duplex

Stations 1 and up are not supported, although the firmware in the Redac has
code to handle other station numbers. Applied Digital deny all knowledge of
this.

The pin outs are as follows:
Looking INTO the Redac connectors, the contacts are at the top, the slot for
the interlocking clip at the bottom.
The left most pin is ground (to DB9F/5 or DB25F/7)
The next pin to the right is data OUT of the Redac (to the computer) (to
DB9F/2 or DB25F/3)
The next pin to the right is data IN to the Redac (from the computer) (to
DB9F/3 or DB25F/2)
The next pin to the right is ground. (to DB9F/5 or DB25F/7)
The cable supplied with the unit (for the supplied DB9F adapter) is not a
normal telephone cable, but is reversed (in other words, the guy that laid
out the PCB for Applied Digital got it backwards and they compensated by
switching the end of the cable to save having to redo the PCB)

Subject: [ECS] Micro Redac Questions

I'm trying to incorporate my old Applied Digital Micro Redac that I used on
my ECSD machine into a
new ECS system using a HomeVision as the PLC-Interface. When I redefine the
Micro Redac as station 1
the communication light stops flashing and I can't read any of the analog
sensors. There are 7 dip switches inside the unit but I'm clueless if they
need to be reset if ECS isn't going to use the Micro Redac as the
PLC-Interface. Someone was using multiple Redac's so perhaps he could shed
some light on this.
Also if anyone has the RJ-12 pinouts for the serial connector, I'd be
eternally thankful.
