Subject: From: Date: | Re: [ECS] CGI advice needed Scott Reston Sat, 29 Jan 2000 20:44:38 -0500 |
my first thought is CGI would probably be less desireable than something like java due
to the dynamic nature of ECS. i've got a setup now where i use perl to
communicate with ECS via DDE and while it works pretty well, it's still very static.
by choosing java, i imagine you'd have a lot more flexibility in making things
dynamically update. another bonus - it's possible for javascript to speak to a java
applet. that would allow users to write their own interfaces using HTML and
javascript that could communicate and control ECS.
i can give you advice about CGI and a little advice on perl if you need it, but everything
i've built with CGI has been very static... any java gurus out there??
