Joe,

First, I think you should ask these questions in the ACE list. All the
commands you are refering to are ACE commands. ECS is a very open ha
program. While it is true that Mark made some changes to accommodate my ACE
interface (thanks Mark) it is basically ACE that supports ECS, not ECS that
supports ACE. As such, you will only find the commands you are asking about
documented in the ACE doc's.

I think that most ace/ecs users are NOT checking the option to "Update item
states at startup" in the ace client ecs config window. They ARE checking
the option to "Update this ECS item with client status" in the same window,
though. This causes the specified ecs item to change values when the client
connects to the server. You the write code in ecs to detect this change and
then have ecs send the ECSUIS command to that client so that the client then
requests the status of each item from ecs. I hope an ace/ecs user can
verify this.

The "update item states at startup" option may not work when the client
starts if it doesn't connect quickly to the ace server.

I hope this helps.

Dan

I am trying to use ECS with ACE. On the ACE side I have enabled ECS and
requested a status update on startup of ACE.

when ACE starts it tries to get a status update from ECS and then gives me
an error that ECS not responding within 5 seconds and therefore cancels the
update. Am I doing anything wrong?
