RE: Stanley home-link garage indicator

Hi Scott,

I too have the Stanley Garage Indicator. It will not work with ECS because
it uses
the "extended codes" in the X-10 command set. (I think that is the right
name for them.)

At any rate, the TW interface does NOT pick up the extended codes. I looked
in the
specs for it and it specifically says it does not do this. Well just about
everything I
know of uses the TW interface module so this thing is probably not going to
work
with any home automation system until the TW interface gets redesigned to
pass the
extended codes. This is not a short coming of ECS, but rather X-10's support
for
their own command set.

has anyone out there played around with the Stanley Homelink garage
indicator? i picked one up to play around with... but i can't seem to figure
out what to
have ECS look for. it doesn't appear to use standard codes... if anyone has
any pointers, please let me know.

for those interested, the garage indicator is basically a RF sender/receiver
combo... there's a piece that attaches to the back of your garage door and
senses
when it's gone from horizontal to vertical (and vice versa). when the status
changes, it sends a signal to a RF receiver which then updates a garage door
status
module that you put somewhere inside the house. works pretty well... if
anyone has any questions about it, let me know...
