Subject: From: Date: | weather reports made easy (hopefully)... Scott Reston Fri, 18 Feb 2000 08:42:08 -0500 |
i've put together a script that'll pull down the weather report for any zip code that
weather.com supports...
download from:
http://www.indelible-blue.com/info/weather.bat
you'll need to have a perl interpreter for windows installed. there's free one at www.activestate.com.
be sure to get the win32 version. their website seems to
be down at the moment, so i've *temporarily* put a copy of the perl install at:
http://www.indelible-blue.com/info/APi522e.exe
(it's about a 5.5MB download) try their site before my link as i may remove the file
at any time...
you'll also need to have WPDL.EXE as included with ECS. you may need to change some
paths if you didn't install ECS to "c:\program files", but i've
marked the part of the code you'll need to fix with "## EDIT AS NECESSARY ##"
i've tried to comment the code so that you can change it if you want. i'm willing to
make minor changes if you'd like the parsing a little different and aren't up
to the challenge of interpreting my code...
to run the script, just type "weather.bat XXXXX" where XXXXX is your zip...
let me know if it works out for you or if you spot any problems...
