Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] Networking problem Kevin Keast Mon, 21 Feb 2000 10:11:07 -0500 |
That is good to hear Scott, I did have an older version of IE on the machine
so I did not have those checkboxes at all but have them now.
I suppose I will just have to set up a proxy server then. In the long run I
think this is what I will do anyway. Does anyone have any recommendations
on this topic? I know about Wingate but not sure I want to drop the cash.
I heard Apache can work as a proxy server. Any suggestions/comments?
Thanks everyone for the info/help.
Kevin

kevin - you'er not alone - i've had this same problem. setting the "never
dial a connection" switch will fix the problem, but you wont be able to have
the dialup-
server automatically dial out whenever it detects that another machine on
the network wants to make a connection to the internet.
when the setting is "dial only when a connection is needed", i find that an
automatic connection only takes place when i try to access an outside
address from
the dial-up server.
