Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] Lockups while Winamp is playing A.J. Griglak Thu, 24 Feb 2000 13:26:16 -0500 |
Actually, I've only setup start/stop and nextsong. I haven't begun to work
with playlists yet. I plan on either creating specific .M3U files or when I
get ambitious enough, I'm going to look into your PERL stuff to handle
playlists. I don't foresee enqueing songs 'on the fly.'
I think the problem has to do with the fact that EDM and WPDL are DOS
programs. I've got no problems with any other program running on the ECS
machine. I was even copying files through the network using VNC while
winamp was playing - no problems. I think it's DOS related because once
this morning, after it locked up, I went to end-task on the MS-DOS prompt
and it wasn't listed. But I end-tasked on WINOLDAP and boom - back to
normal. To the best of my knowledge, WINOLDAP is used when running 16 bit
DOS programs in Windows...

AJ - make sure you're not using WACTRL to enqueue songs. it'll work fine for
start/stop/etc..., but the 2.6 version of winamp changed the way they handle
enqueueing.
in the short term, i've been using "winamp.exe /ADD" to add songs to
playlists on machines using winamp 2.6
