Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] Lockups while Winamp is playing A.J. Griglak Thu, 24 Feb 2000 23:59:15 -0500 |
Yea, I like the way it works... I'll buy you a couple of Pepsis ;-)
I'm wondering if uninstalling the new Winamp and going back to 2.5 will
help... Will do that tomorrow and let you know.
As I said, though, I don't think the lockups are occurring because of
WACTRL - although sometimes (maybe 1 in 7) WACTRL does cause the system to
hang.
By the way, is there any way to change the VOLUP and VOLDOWN commands? It
seems like the increment is only like 1 or 2% - it takes a significant
amount of button pressing to hear a volume difference.
Also, here are some essential tools that I use with my MP3's.
2 Plug-Ins for Winamp:
http://www.winamp.com/customize/detail.jhtml?componentId=175 Crossfading
Output - will start playing song 2 before song 1 is finished - so that there
is no silence between tracks (very nice)
http://www.winamp.com/customize/detail.jhtml?componentId=1099 Rock Steady -
volume equalizer - will soften loud MP3s and raise quiet ones. Essential if
you have more than one MP3.
And a playlist manager:
http://www.volweb.cz/str/ MP3 Manager - Organize your playlists and ID3
information. I tested probably a dozen playlist managers - this blows em
all away...
http://www.abc.se/~m9761/mp3tag_studio After managing all that ID3
information (Title, Artist, Genre, etc.) - Rename all the filenames in one
shot... (be careful, though... use it on backups till you get the hang of
it)

WACTRL is a small Delphi app I wrote to control WinAmp with command line
parameters. It seems to work well with WinAmp 2.5, which is what I have.
Don't think I'm going to upgrade, based upon what I'm hearing.
If you'd like a copy of it, drop me a line. It's a freebie, or you can buy
me a Pepsi if you ever meet me. :-)
