The error message is "modem ERROR resp to AT#VLS=2"

I have speakers attached to the sound card. The modem has it's own onboard
speaker. Do I need speakers on the modem too ?

I really don't care about local sound, what I want is to call phones and
announce messages, like what I have been doing with Bigmouth on the DOS
version. Right now the modem is dialing fine, but all I get is some silence.

If you see a funny phrase at the top of my message, I'm not trying to be
cute. It's a bug in Microsoft Offfice 2000 SR-1 causing the name of the HTML
background to show up in my EMails...  Yes, I know that SR-1 is supposed to
be a bug fix.
