Don, your COM port setup is NOT the problem. 

BTW, remember that the COM settings are ONLY used by
ECS.EXE (W95) for conflict checks - it is the W95
setup that matters.

It appears that your modem does not suppprt caller-id,
hence the error message at that particular command.
What modem is this ?
