Subject: From: Date: | BETA upload Mark Gilmore Sat, 15 Apr 2000 10:42:29 -0400 |
Hi all,
I just uploaded the latest BETA to http://www.usit.com/omnip/ecsb.zip.
Please try out the NEW web stuff (#26 below).
There are still some enhancements needed in the way ECS determines
where to place each Item window, but I think you'll like it.
NOTE: When unzipping, use the "restore directory" option
(e.g. "-d"), so as to place *.JPGs & *.BMPs in \ECS\ICONS.
4.3.004 (04/15/00)
22) Corrected bug related to Types with "dynamic" State lists
(e.g. HVAC-SETTING-A, HVAC-SETTING-B, WEATHER-SETTING-A, etc).
Sorry, but this one's too complicated to explain :-).
23) Corrected a bug which could cause a mismatch btw RELAY-J Item
States and the real relay states.
24) Any Item Text displayed in the Group screen is now appropriately
updated if the Text is modified by Events.
25) ECS now appropriately adjusts SUNRISE-TIME/SUNSET-TIME Items for
daylight-saving's time.
26) ECS now supports a "web interface", whereby ECS Groups may be
displayed in web pages. Currently, these pages support the ability
to conveniently set Item States and select different Items. I hope
to add full editing capabilities in an later release.
USAGE:
With ECS running, run your web browser and enter "{host}:3000",
where {host} may be "localhost" (for local access) or an IP
address (for remote access). This will display the ECS "home page".
See "Accessing Your PC Via The Internet" in ECS.HTM for a discussion
of IP addresses. IF YOU START ECS WHEN CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET,
then you MUST enter the IP address (for now at least).
WARNING: If you start ECS when connected to the Internet, then
anyone having your IP address could access your ECS Groups.
I'll be adding a password-entry system in a later release.
To DISABLE the ECS web server, enter this command in \AUTOEXEC.BAT:
SET ECS_WEB=0
NOTE: If you get this message on startup:
A REQUIRED .DLL FILE, WS2_32.DLL, WAS NOT FOUND
Then your W95 PC does not have the "WINDOWS SOCKET 2 UPDATE" installed.
You can do so via:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wuadmintools/s_wunetworkingtools/w95sockets2/default.asp.
You should only get this message if you are running W95.
To create customized pages, use the ECS-generated web-page as examples.
