Re: [ECS] Thermostats

Hello Reddy,

I am setting up a new home with Statnet. The home is not built yet but
I have been testing a pair of thermostats. I will be mounting the
sub-base in my basement control closet. This requires only one
additional wire to run to hte thermostat. The sub-base also has four
contact closure inputs and can be wired for four relay outputs. (There
is a few second delay with ECSW.)

The enerzone web page does work. (I believe the address is
www.enerzone.com.) I'm not sure what model numbers you are referring
to. The proverter is a tiny box that mounts anywhere between the
computer and the enerzone junction box.

I think they are by far the best looking thermostats and fully
functional. Enerzone also has a line of flex dampers that would be
great for retrofit.

Hello again,

I am adding a new room that will have it's own thermostat and heating
system. It will essentially be separate from the rest of the house.

I had bought a HAI RC-80 (similar to Wayne's RC-100) on a special, not
realizing that ECS had provisions for anything other than the X-10
controllable thermostats.

I looked at the StatNet. It seems to be a much more expensive solution,
as
it isn't really an RS-232 device, but an RS-485 device. Thus the $230
thermostat requires a $130 converter to use.

The programming **is** much more straightforward, as the commands are
easily
readable from a terminal program , while the HAI seems to require
other
software.

Anybody out there using the StatNet ?

What do you think about it?

Did you use the subbase, the in-wall mounting for the Stat-Net portion,
or
mount the StatNet away from the thermostat?

Where did you place the RS-232 to Rs-485 "Proverter"?

What is the difference between the 3050A and 3050RS ?

Why does the Enerzone web page not work ? Are they still in business ?

Any chance of supporting the Omnistats from HAI ?

Thanks,

Reddy
