Subject: From: Date: | Re: [ECS] A bit off topic- whole house microphones ckeyes Sat, 29 Apr 2000 11:34:25 -0700 |
Kevin,
I've made several attempts at it
with Crown mics, a good
limiter and lots of different placements.
I wish I could tell you it worked but
any room sounds would trigger false
commands or misinterpretations.
It works great if:
You don't have any pets.
No one ever speaks while you're inputing a command.
A radio or tv is never on.
The dishwasher is turned off, etc. etc.
Obviously, point being the room must be
very quiet. Even then, acoustics change enough
from sitting or standing in different parts
of a room to throw off reccognition.
I follow the HAL list and am amazed by some
of their claims of whole house recognition.
I've tried HAL and found Mark's (ECS) VR set-up
to work much better under the same circumstances.
I ended up going with cordless phones that have intercoms
I've wired back into ECS.
Good luck, it is fun to get into....
Carl
