OK, this is getting frustrating. I asked this question last week, and got
no responses. I am having problems with the START command when it shells
out to DOS, the ECS system will hang up. If I end task on the MS-DOS prompt
in the task list, everything continues on as if nothing happened - including
the command that caused the lockup. It happens about 10% of the time. It
is also now beginning to happen on when starting ECS - I have ECS in the
startup folder - and even that has locked up several times in the same way.
It is not too impressive when you're showing someone what your "Smart" house
can do, and the damn thing keeps locking up!! Not to mention the grumbles
from the wife about wasting time and money....
Should there be an extra environment variable in the AUTOEXEC.BAT? FILES=
or BUFFERS= (Man it's been a WHILE since I've used those buggers)
Here's some info:
Celeron 466, 192MB SDRAM
ECS 4.3.004
Always have these running:
Winamp 2.5
Symantec Talkworks 2.02 (same as Winfax 8.x)
Remote Administrator
Sometimes have these running:
Windows Media Player
RealPlayer
An example command that causes the lockups:
START
