Bill,
To change the default text size is fairly simple.
1) RIGHT click on an empty space on your desktop.
2) Select "PROPERTIES" from the pop-up menu.
3) Select the "SETTINGS" tab.
4) Click the drop down arrow on the "Font size" text box.
5) Select "Large fonts" (or "Other" for custom font sizes).
6) Click OK.
You will be prompted to reboot your computer to complete the change
to the new font size.
After the reboot you can evaluate if the new font size is acceptable,
if not you can change it again to a custom size that is more suitable.
Caveat: Beware that not all programs function correctly with large
fonts. The most common problem is text boxes that are not scaled
to the correct size for the font. This is due to the program failing
to check the default font size before sizing text boxes, etc. This
may cause the text to be too big to display fully in the box. Also
some text may show up misaligned from where it should be. Mostly
this is just a minor annoyance, but if it happens to a text box
where you are unable to read or enter a piece of critical data,
it could force you to go back to the small font default to make a
particular program usable. Since it requires a reboot, it is not
something you will want to do frequently.
Good luck,
Bill Bass
