Ahhh... sounds familiar :-). I started with an Altair, and later upgraded
to an Imsai. It had one of those 'hot' new 1KBYTE memory boards - in fact
it was soooo hot I thought I could fry an egg on it :-).

I proposed using them as an alternative to the mini-computers used where I
worked. They thought that was the most ridiculous thing they had ever
heard. Still, I was convinced that they could be a good alternative, and
decided to use one to run a real-time system at work. Worked fine, but I
was severly criticized for doing such a stupid thing - "Why don't you use
a real computer"? The fact that it was smaller, cheaper, and easier to
program didn't seem to make much difference :-).

Quit knocking my head at work (until a few years later when they finally
realized that micros were not going to go away :-), and just used them at
home. Went on along HA paths similar to the ones described here.

I bet us crazy folks had a lot of fun...

Larry
