Sometimes it happened to my customers too. While going to the registry
and checking for several things could help, it's dangerous.
At times I fixed it installing "client fo Microsoft network" (I don't
know the exact english name) in network properties, or, if it's already
there, removing it, rebooting, and reinstalling it.
The "client" is not needed if you use JUST remote access for the
internet, but it doesn't hurt. But I found it's strictly connected to
the "password" matter, in both a LAN connection (such as NT or simply
Win) and the remote access.
