Subject: From: Date: | ECS 4.4.001 Release (Part 2) Martin Terry Sat, 13 May 2000 16:10:13 -0700 |
Sorry, slippery fingers sent the last message prematurely. :)
Mark,
I just spent some time looking at ECS 4.4.001 and I have to say it is
IMPRESSIVE!
The Web interface has really come from humble beginnings to an amazingly
powerful engine.
My current client machine wouldn't work with the new update (It is IE 3.02).
It simply couldn't deal with the new Java classes. I plugged in my laptop
with IE 5.01 and it worked like a champ, but I had to copy the class files
to the laptop manually. (The instructions you gave for setting security in
IE doesn't seem to follow IE 5, what version do you have?)
Right now I'm printing out the java examples you have in the docs, and am
going to have to go get myself a java programming manual. :)
I'm running this version on a Pentium 133 with 64mb of memory and it seems
to work pretty well. Looks like I'll have to ugrade my client computer (It
is a Pentium 75).
This release really has the potential to bring together ECS with the
internet and just about anything else you can think of. Thanks for all the
hard work.
Hope you have the time to post a few examples of how to implement the web
features. I think at this point, documentation is the make or break part of
ECS, you really need to consider a full fledged manual with examples and a
startup guide.
