Although the only person on this list is Mark, somewhat, and I simply don’t
have the smarts that any of you have, I have a favorite event. But, again it
’s nothing like anything you have developed. No fancy phones, station
programming, verbal notices, etc.
My favorite event is simple. It manages the HVAC in my house. Unfortunately,
I have one of these events for every zoned room in the house. If any of you
know of a way to do this more elegantly, given what I have, let me know. I
have a motion detector, analog temperature sensor and motorized damper for
each room. My furnaces/AC units are microprocessor controlled. They sense
the amount of air permitted through the system and adjust fan speed and
heat/AC accordingly.
This event has worked really well for me. It has cut my energy bills by an
average of 43% annually. The event determines if someone is there and then
adjusts the appropriate temperature for the room according to season and
time of day.
