Hey, that's cool, Rob. Energy savings is something I really want to concentrate on in our new house. Can you tell us about the HVAC system you're using? I'm going to put a geothermal one in our new place, and was thinking of controlling it with Enerzone devices. Thanks for sharing! --David -----Original Message----- From: Rob Hicks [mailto:robhicks@utah-inter.net] Sent: Friday, May 19, 2000 4:05 PM To: Ecs-List@Netbloc. Com Subject: [ECS] Favorite Event Although the only person on this list is Mark, somewhat, and I simply don’ t have the smarts that any of you have, I have a favorite event. But, again it’s nothing like anything you have developed. No fancy phones, station programming, verbal notices, etc. My favorite event is simple. It manages the HVAC in my house. Unfortunately, I have one of these events for every zoned room in the house. If any of you know of a way to do this more elegantly, given what I have, let me know. I have a motion detector, analog temperature sensor and motorized damper for each room. My furnaces/AC units are microprocessor controlled. They sense the amount of air permitted through the system and adjust fan speed and heat/AC accordingly. This event has worked really well for me. It has cut my energy bills by an average of 43% annually. The event determines if someone is there and then adjusts the appropriate temperature for the room according to season and time of day. Anyway, here it is:
