Thoughts on HotTub Temp Sensor

Does anyone have a temp sensor for their HotTub? I had a recent fluke
where the temp went too high. The electric went off then on quickly and
the temp sensor stuck. This was all while it was going through it's
morning cycle. I could have thrown in a few vegetables and made soup.

My thought was to put a sensor in a pvc tube and throw in something to give
it some weight and cap it at both ends..... then drop it in the water.
Anyone have any suggestions?
