I also have downloaded the beta, and here's what I see:

ECS "Help > About" shows version 4.4.001 not 4.4.002

The upd.txt document does not include the changes you posted here today,
which logically we thought they would be included in the file.

I don't see the Event editor or item editor options anywhere when I browse
with Internet explorer.
