As Martin suggested, this is often done with a shell script. You can 
further improve this by shipping ECS/LINUX in RPM format (RPM=RedHat 
Package Manager) and/or in Debian's package format (not sure what that is 
called). Most Linux available now use RPM.

With this format, installing new software is essentially little more than a 
double-click.
