Well - I'm only guessing here, because I have none of them there new-fangled
X10 modules that will respond to a status request, but here goes:

Assuming your X10 module(s) will respond to a status request, and your X10
interface can send it (I THINK the CM11 does...), then it seems to me that
all you would need to do on ECS startup is to send a status request, using a
PLC-Command item.

Perhaps someone here who has tried this can offer a more concrete answer.

Right. So the original question is - can I ask the installed X-10 devices

their status after the fact.  IE, when ECS starts can it request the status

an X-10 device?

Activehome appears to have that ability...
