Am I supposd to use the plc 2K or the Plc 2C?  The plc 2C is not available so I thought
perhaps the 2K had taken its place.

  (not that it will help much).
  Sounds like a faulty unit OR a problem with the
  serial port (perhaps a conflicting IRQ).
  Try another port and/or the latest rev of ECS.
