Paul, The only way I know how to see if it works, is to just try it. However, I would think it would be very frustrating, as the phone stuff in ECS is so dang complex to begin with. In testing this, you'd be working with two unknowns.... both the modem and your code. I don't know how you'd sort out the offender. As a starting point, you should start with some phone stuff that works. Take Mark's Example.CFG file and see if your modem will recognize/work with the phone stuff before you go off and try to create a complex phone event. If you want to see what I use, check out the archives. I modified Garnet Bailey's original ECS/Dos code to work with ECS 4.1 and all the info is in the archives. Phone modem support is without a doubt the only weak link that ECS has. I'd recommend you ask around here, perhaps someone has an old Zoom 14.4 VXP modem they'd part with. Alternately, you could look on Ebay or direct to Zoom to see if they still have refurbished/return units. Last group buy netted a bunch of 'em for $14.95 each if I remember correctly. If you really want to "fiddle" to see about your modem being supported by ECS, then use any comm program to establish 2-way link with your modem. Put it into "command" mode and type in the commands listed in Phn_C.set to see if your modem recognizes them. Also check out Phnc0.set and Phnc1.set, although I don't know how you get ECS to use those, rather than the commands in Phn_C.set. Doc's should cover that, but I've never looked. Hope you have some good luck on this one!
