Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] web interface and firewalls Dan Hoehnen Tue, 27 Jun 2000 22:58:04 -0400 |
Thanks for the info everyone. Unfortunately, the firewall I am concerned
with is the one at my office. I tried a quick test since my original post.
I used a basic client and server and tried to get them to talk through the
firewall on ports 2000, 3000 and 8080. All 3 ports failed. I did not try
very hard and I will make some more tests in the days to come. As strict as
I know my company is, I doubt they will open a port up for me to use so I
can check on my house from my office. Of course, I can always use a dial-up
connection to my ISP from my office and that will get me around the
firewall.
I am able to use port 80 since I can bring up web pages just fine through
the firewall.
I think I will talk to the IT people tomorrow and see if there are some
ports that can be used.
