Got it!  I poked around a little and found how to make the same permission
adjustments to java in IE4 as in IE5.  All is working now.

For the java console look under View|InternetOptions|Advanced you enable the
java console.  The console is then viewed via View|Java Console

I think one of the reasons this works for me but not you is that my ECS
machine and my web browser are on a local lan with internal IP addresses set
by me. I probably have the java security set wide open since neither of
these machines are accessible from the internet. I also don't have a
password set for ECS web access.

How do you open the java console in IE 4? Maybe I can log my successful
attempts and see where the differences are.
