I was running a beta of Windows Millenium, with a beta of IE 5.5.  That's
probably what the problem was.  I have since reformatted the ole hard drive
and installed Win2000 / Win98SE dual boot on the remote machine.  The ECS
machine is still Win98SE.

The web access works as advertised now!  Thanks for asking.
