Access Control Using ECS

I am not yet an ECS user. I am considering using ECS for an access control application
at my home. What I would like to do is to control access to entry doors using a strike
plate with access control based upon a proximity reader. I have found a number of dedicated
systems to do this. But, it seems to me that I ought to be able to do pretty much the
same thing using ECS and some standard parts.

My question: has anyone else implemented home access control using ECS. I am interested
in applications that use either a keypad or proximity reader. If you have success in
this area, I would be interested in what parts you used and where you acquired them.
Also, which ECS interface did you choose to implement this with?

I am also interested in hearing about anyone's experience in interfacing ECS to a dedicated
access control system in order to keep ECS informed about access events without having
ECS actually control door access itself.

Please post reply or email me directly: kevin@thetrainors.com

Thanks.

Kevin
