Yeah, they were prototypes then, but I think they are released now. They
looked pretty good.

Joe,

We saw some ACT switches at the home automation show down in Florida that
looked quite promising. Uncle Phil displayed some with membrane faces that
switched a load AND transmitted X-10 signals. They have incredible noise
filtering ability. I believe the line of switches were known as "A10". I
seem to recall they were going to be in the $40 - $50 range.

Wayne, did you get to see these?

Subject: [ECS] Best automated switches

Hello All

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the best system for
lighting. It seems there is no other option than X-10. I had been
using the "Cheap" X-10 switches at my old home and was not very
pleased with the reliability of these switches meaning they
physically fail or I get different dimming results of lights. The one
option that I would really, really like is the 2 way X-10 option like
Switchlinc. But after talking to Don Stephens and checking out the
newsgroups it seems users of these have nothing but problems. I
would like to monitor such things as the kids rooms ( 3 Children )
to see if they "accidently" leave a light on and such things as
bathrooms, garage and closets. The only way to know if someone
actually physically turns on a switch is to have an X-10 signal
transmitted. Does anyone know of any other switch than Swichlinc
that transmitts from the local button. I know I could use the X-10
transmitters with the fixture modules but I would much rather True
rocker style Decora type switches. Is there anything out there
other than X-10? Maybe a wired system. I would put in the effort to
add such wiring if it were reliable. I am putting this into my new
home with 56 different switches and want to do it right the first time.

Thanks
Joe Rut
