I don't use any of Mark's web pages in my implementation. ECS can serve any web page you reference, so I have a "web" directory in the ECS directory, and in that I have my home built web pages. So the URL to open my website is : http://ecs:3000/web/main.htm Notice the /web/. I have ECS setup with no password necessary (it's fairly isolated from the internet, it can only do dialup and then it's behind a firewall.) This used to be a problem - when ECS first started I HAD to open ECS's main page before I could open any others, but Mark has recently fixed this allowing blank password access to request any page. When I want to access Mark's built in pages from mine, I just reference them directly - like: http://ecs:3000/messages.htm The messages screen is about the only thing I use and I plan to rewrite that when I can. When I want to access the state of items or change them I utilize the java applets Mark has developed. If you look at the built in web pages he is generating these days he's becoming a virtual java wizard! For example, the tv-guide page has some great code examples for setting item states, even running programs on the ECS machine from a web link. I just cut and paste this stuff into my pages and modify it as necessary. :) ---- you wrote: > Terry: > > Since ECS generates main.htm everytime you restart ECS, what did you name > your HTM file to incorporate Mark's stuff? > > Don > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <martin.terry@cyberdude.com> > To: "ECS List" <ecs-list@netbloc.com> > Sent: Friday, August 25, 2000 8:39 AM > Subject: RE: [ECS] Off line web browsing > > > > Well, that didn't work either - the list won't take the attachments (about > 100k each). > > > > No problem, I have put them on ftp://ftp.gallops.com/incoming if anyone is > interested. > > > > > > ---- you wrote: > > > OK, here are some screen shots of Internet Explorer, which is my ECS > client. > > > > > > Most of the icons and overall look are taken directly from Stephen > Nolan's site (Sorry Steve :)) > > > > > > > > > > > > ---- you wrote: > > > > Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no?
