Thy LYNX seems to responds to commands from there stuff and from other
X10 sources. I am going to write a test program to send a couple
commands through the serial line to try and diagnose the issue. I'll
make sure to post all my results.

Hi Nathan,
I know of no bugs or other issues related to the Lynx.
Perhaps someone else is using it and will have a suggestion.
I would NOT perform any setup other than that documented in
ECS.HTM.
Does it work with their software ?
If you have >= 3 COM ports, make sure that COM2's
IRQ does not conflict with another COM port.
